If you’re feeling a bit lost in a life, and really don’t know what to next, you don’t know how to find way to improve your current situation – then you might want to give this book a chance to help you out. We all live in this fast world where time passes by us too fast, and we find ourselves too often lost and we fell like we fail in so many ways in life. The title of this book suggest on which things you need to focus; and although it’s not a step-by-step guide how and what you need to do – it’s still very useful book.
I have to say that this book was an excellent reading and learning material lately. I see that people mostly read this book to learn tactics which they can use on other people; whether it is for marketing purposes or not, you can use information from this book in that way. But I have to say that this book was really helpful for me to influence myself more to become even better and appreciate myself even more, and that will lead become more appreciated by others as well. I read this book once, and than just went through it one more time a bit quickly to remind myself about some parts. Reading this book I did get more motivated and I’ve had that feeling when you just want to do things.
People who have lately thinking about starting their own business, but don’t have enough knowledge and want to start learning first before they went into business – I would suggest you to read this book. I do have to say that this will not be your complete ‘How to’ guide when it comes learning about how to start your own business, but it’s a good start. Also I would suggest this book to people who already had started business but the business is not doing well. You can learn some important skills that are required, and start working on how to apply some changes to your business and make it better.
If you’re someone who is considering to start their own business and need a book that will bring into some basic insights about starting, running and making the business work; and to read something that will motivate you as well – then I can suggest you to read this book. Don’t expect to from this book to be your only guide that you need to read and hop right in into the implementation of your business idea(s). This is very basic book, but it’s well put together and contains right balance of example stories and tips you need to know. Only reason for my 3 star rating, is that I know already 90% of things from this book.
Simple explanation of this book would be: if you’re like majority of people who have so many wishes, but doesn’t know what to do – then this book will help you to get into mindset of stopping procrastination and start working to get things that you want. Sound simple, and it’s really just a common sense thing, but seems like so many people lack that motivation to start working. I think that’s because of the ‘quick fixes’ that majority of people is looking in life – and there’s no such thing.
Very interesting story of a 51 year old guy who got fired from his job at Newsweek and getting a job to work at the tech company. But this book is so much interesting because it doesn’t talk about benefits of the tech company so much, it is more focused on providing insights on how does those companies work and how they are funded and operated – or as it should be better putted: how those companies are run by incompetent people and funded by those who cares only about money and will in the end make money. I will call it a bit of a dark side of tech industry, even if it sounds a bit cliche.
Right at the start I have to say that this books is best to use as continuation to the book Building Strong Brands written by the same author. First book will teach you on what steps you need to take when starting to build your brand; and from this book you will learn proper steps that you need to take in order to manage your brand along the way and focusing on long-term profits more, over the short-term profits. I have to say that you won’t get much just by reading one of these two books – you have to read them both.
If you’re looking for a book that will help you to learn how to build a brand – then I would definitely suggest you this book which is 500+ pages long written by a professor David A. Aaker who is teaching marketing at University of California – Berkeley. Building a brand is not something that is easy, and especially is not easy to build a brand and keep that brand running successfully for a long time. I have to say that this books has very technical approach on building a brand strategy and you’ll not be able to comprehend everything at once.
I have to start review of this book by first saying what this book is not because title might make you think differently; this book is not about how you should make everything that’s around you unimportant and meaningless – it’s the opposite of that. From this book you will learn how to differentiate what is important in your live and what’s not; and after realizing what’s important you will, like the author like to say, start giving fuck only about things that are important to you and that will make you happier and more satisfied in life. And I have to say for all of us, this is the ultimate goal in our lives.

It’s written in style that great for beginners and very nicely sorted out which makes it easy to navigate through. You can read it in two ways: first you can read it and start working on your plan how you wen through book; and second you can read it all at once and then went back and start from scratch, but this time start writing plan and your ideas how you go through the book.
